Branch meetings

All members and prospective members are welcome at Branch meetings.  Meetings are usually held on the fourth Thursday of the months of February to April and June to November.

In May and December we ask members to contribute time to our fund-raising business of hiring academic dress.

Each year Young Members organise a WINTER LECTURE, open to both the public and members.  Other YOUNG MEMBERS ACTIVITIES and WORKSHOPS, also open to both the public and members, are organised frequently.

2011 dates for Branch meetings:

  • 24th February
  • 24th March
  • 28th April
  • 23rd June
  • 31st July (Sunday lunch meeting)
  • 25th August
  • 22nd September (AGM)
  • 27th October
  • 24th November.

Evening meetings are currently held at 7.30pm sharp (see note below for reason for ‘sharp’) in the

Benham Seminar Room, 2nd floor, Zoology Department, University of Otago

The Zoology Department is at 340 Great King St (opposite Physiotherapy and next to Dentistry).  The Benham Building is the newer building, set back from the street.  Access is via the big glass doors at the back of the car park. You are welcome to use the car park.

The doors of the building are locked at night, but a Branch member will be there to open the door for you from approximately 7.15pm until the meeting begins at 7.30pm.

Inside the building use the stairs or the elevator to reach the second floor.  The Benham Seminar Room is at the end of the corridor heading north.  It is signposted at the doorway to the elevator.
