Helen Benson Award
The Helen Benson Award is designed to support non-graduate women at a ’second chance’ at retraining or education with an upper limit of $1000. Women wishing to take up or to complete a short course or project in order to take up work (paid or voluntary) in the community or to develop new skills or interest outside the home are welcome to apply. Generally, applicants should not have been in full-time gainful employment for some years prior to the date of application. Preference is given to women from the Southland/Otago region. Applications are considered once a year. The closing date in mid-October is advertised during September.
